What is Paleo?

The word paleo refers to the term paleolithic .Today when people use the word paleo they’re really referring to a green free diet. The paleolithic diet (abbreviated paleo diet or paleodiet), also popularly referred to as the caveman diet, Stone Age diet and hunter-gatherer diet, is a modern nutritional plan based on the presumed ancient diet of wild plants and animals that various hominid species habitually consumed during the Paleolithic era—a period of about 2.5 million years which ended around 10,000 years ago with the development of agriculture and grain-based diets.

The term “Paleolithic” was coined by archaeologist John Lubbock in 1865.It derives from Greek: παλαιός, palaios, “old”; and λίθος, lithos, “stone”, literally meaning “old age of the stone” or “Old Stone Age.”

During the Paleolithic, humans grouped together in small societies such as bands, and subsisted by gathering plants and fishing, hunting or scavenging wild animals. The Paleolithic is characterized by the use of knapped stone tools, although at the time humans also used wood and bone tools. Other organic commodities were adapted for use as tools, including leather and vegetable fibers; however, due to their nature, these have not been preserved to any great degree.

99.99%  of our genetic blueprint was formed during the paleolithic era, in other words our genetic makeup which was shaped over the last two million years is virtually identical to your ancestors. That means that certain foods and nutrients, the same ones your each in biological ancestors consumed are literally part of your biology today.

For 2.5 million years we eat what we could hunt and gather, today we eat what looks good and taste good and what is sold to us using million dollar a campaigns. The average american eats a hundred and fifty pounds of sugars and sweeteners per year and hundreds of pounds of grains.

Dr Jeans Bravely And Ron Hogan wrote a book called “Dangerous Grains” and they showed how grains are linked to more than two hundred chronic illnesses and conditions including type two diabetes, cancer, heart disease, arthritis, infertility and problematic pregnancies just to name a few.

Ower paleolithic ancestors were strong, lean and had great athletic bodyes. They survived with aanimal proteins like meat and fish, they have fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds including healthy fats.Well here’s the problem the grains that we eat everyday produce compounds and these compounds can damage the digestive tract and even cause autoimmune disease.
